The Times Spelling Bee Championship 2011
The Purple Blazers - Joe Tagliaferro, Tom Kirkham, Will Harrington-Clark and Liam Spurgeon – from Colchester Royal Grammar School are the 2011 Championship winners. The team had been drilled for two months by their teacher, Jenny Eady, in their school spelling club. The practice paid off, as Joe Tagliaferro won the individual prize to add to the Blazers’ glory.

Winners take over Young Times
The winning team from Colchester Royal Grammar School visited the offices of The Times to work for the day with Daisy Greenwell, Editor of the Young Times section in The Times. The four students got the chance to interview Boris Johnston, Mayor of London, and Peter Andre, singing celebrity.
