    Second Place Team - South Wolds Comprehensive School, Nottingham

    Third Place Team - Nottingham Girls’ High School

    The winning team from Becket School showed off its mastery by successfully spelling words such as ‘propaganda’ and ‘component’. Paul O’Neill, teacher from Becket School said: “The team worked very hard and the supporters suffered near heart attacks watching!” Contestant Daniel Audcent said: “I felt really excited and I was relieved and shocked at how we overtook the top team!”

    Winning Team - Rushey Mead Secondary School, Leicester
    Team Members - Hamza Sayani, Nikhil Gondalia, Mohit Buch, Kuldeep Gokul

    Second Place Team - Leicester High School for Girls

    Third Place Team - Shirebrook School, Mansfield

    The winning team from Rushey Mead Secondary School will go forward to The Times Spelling Bee Semi Finals in May. Annette Fowler, teacher from Rushey Mead Secondary School said: “The boys have done themselves proud! Great team spirit and they have enjoyed the whole experience!” Contestant Mohit Buch said: “Everybody tried their best and it paid off. We worked very well as a team!”

    Winning Team - Kirk Hallam Community Technology College, Ilkeson
    Team Members - Erynn Swaby, Jake Bagshaw, Ben Collard, Isaac Leafe

    Second Place Team - The Brunts Upper School, Nottingham

    Third Place Team - West Park Community School, Derby

    The winning team from Kirk Hallam Community Technology College go forward to The Times Spelling Bee Semi Finals in May. Sonja Bredgaard, teacher from Kirk Hallam Community Technology College said: “I’m so immensely proud of them all, it’s a fantastic achievement for both the students and the school.” Contestant Ben Collard said: “I’m still in shock and can’t believe we won! The competition was massive and brilliant, I think everybody who took part were very skilled at spelling so I was very surprised that we won.”
